Meet your Hostess

Kathleen Tully Houser acquired the name, “Grandma Hattie” when her first granddaughter was born in 2002.  That name was selected because of  Kathleen’s love for wearing hats!  Dressing up for church on Sundays after wearing school uniforms all week developed a “passion for fashion” that has never    diminished.

“Grandma Hattie’s Tea Party Garden Accessories” began in 2003 after Kathleen retired after 13 years working as a Primary School Principal.  Previous to that, she taught Art K-12 for 16 years.   “Grandma Hattie” creates decorative objects for the home and garden from vintage glass, china, silver and linens.  She also uses fancy shoes, hats, purses and gloves as planters for live and silk floral arrangements.  These items are for sale in the Tea Room Gift Shop, and at a number of craft shows, galleries and shops.  In 2005, she expanded her business and opened a Tea Room at the Historic Osborne House in the village of Victor.

“Miss Lillian’s Tea Room”, now open in the Historic Ichabod Towne Homestead at the Valentown Museum in Victor, NY, has been extensively renovated in order to accommodate parties on the first floor.  The Homestead is the former residence of Sheldon and Lillian Fisher and features furniture and artwork from the Victor Historical Society’s vast collection.

Kathleen lives in a purple Victorian home on 18 acres in Victor with her blacksmith/tinsmith husband where she nurtures 11 monochromatic color gardens in which her garden accessories are displayed.  Gardening has also been a passion and Kathleen is Past President of the Victor Garden Club, an Ontario County Master Gardener, and currently 3rd Assistant Director of the 7th District Federated Garden Clubs of NYS, in charge of the Candlelight Tour of Homes.   She has secured both NYS and local grants over the past three years to plant an Heirloom Garden at the Homestead.  The Victor Garden Club and local volunteers maintain this garden as well as the Herb Garden in front of the Museum.  It is planned to include these gardens in a Tea and Tour event in the near future.
